No one seems to know exactly when the Kappa Sigma Dallas Alumni Chapter was chartered, but it definitely played a big role in the early days of Delta-Pi. The earliest reference we have is this copy an undated/unsigned letter to the Supreme Executive Committee from ninety-two members of the Dallas Alumni Chapter. The letter endorses the local Omega Phi Fraternity's petition to Kappa Sigma for a Charter. The request was granted and Omega Phi became the Delta-Pi Chapter at SMU in October of 1927. This letter was part of the petition package that Brother Jay Smith, DP '88, located in the Chapter's archives at the old IMH building in Charlottesville in 2002. |
On March 15th, 2001 Brothers Chris Palo (Xi-Eta '96), Bob Lackey (Beta-Beta '57), and Peter Arnold (Delta-Pi '80) met and decided to revive the Dallas Alumni Chapter. Brother Kevin Wiecek (Alpha-Gamma '92) joined a week later and our first official meeting was held on 4/3/2001 at the Delta-Pi Chapter House. Since then the Dallas Alumni Chapter, with Peter Arnold as Grand Master, has gone on to win the Outstanding Alumni Chapter Award twice, in 2004 and again in 2006. |
